This was kickoff yesterday. I arrived to meet hundreds of new participants and alumni to begin our new spring journey. My ultra team is pretty small because this is a new event for Team in Training. I'm happy to be the guinea pig for a new challenge. We are currently made of up about 17 including staff. When Mama Lisa, my coach, reviewed our training calendar I was pretty surprised to find that I'd be more committed to this than I thought. Aside from the fundraising I'm happy to get a start on, I'll be putting in 2-3 hours of training in a day to start. That will gradually increase to 4 hours or more as the season continues. In preparation for my actual event on August 1st, I will be entered into 3 races along the way. I will be dedicating my time to fundraising and training in the name of finding a cure for blood cancers. I'm happy to do whatever I can to improve the well being of those who have to endure the poking and prodding of nurses and doctors in order to save their lives. I will be running for those who can't. I will be running to make a difference. 75% of all donations goes directly towards finding a cure.
